Where do Mr. and Mrs. Smith go for brunch in Capitol Hill? Why Smith of course!
Actually, we just stumbled upon this restaurant after a weekend walk in nearby Volunteer Park. The interior is reminiscent of a hipster’s hunting lodge with a potpourri of taxidermy gracing the burlap covered walls. The clientele is equally hipster – and it makes for fun people-watching.
The food reminded us of modern Irish grub. We shared a toasted baguette with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Chad ordered the grits and greens (grits with kale) and I ordered a ridiculously over the top million calorie brisket, fried egg, fried green tomatoes and cheese biscuit, accompanied by fries (seriously, let’s add more carbs to this dish!) – it was beyond delicious.
Overall it was fun to get to a different neighborhood and try some good food in a cool setting.
